Our Consultants
Jim Richards
Jim joined what was then Vallie Consulting in 1988 from his position as a regional programmer, where he oversaw several markets for a large broadcast group. Prior to that, Jim successfully programmed stations in San Diego, St Louis, and Pittsburgh to attain the leadership positions in their respective markets, as well as leading B-94 in Pittsburgh to its highest ratings ever.
A partner in Vallie•Richards•Donovan from his first day, Jim is a pioneer in the format that became known as the Hot AC format as he debuted Y98 in St Louis as "hot AC" in 1983, quickly becoming the number one AC in St Louis and within two years driving the former AC format leader out of the format.
With a personal winning record as a programmer in AC, Oldies and Top 40, Jim's specialty is music flow and balance, a master at music scheduling and strategic positioning.
In 1995 Jim's name was put on the door of the company as the name was changed to Vallie•Richards. In 1999 Jim was promoted to President of the consultancy.
Jim is a versatile, knowledgeable professional, committed to moving Vallie•Richards•Donovan clients into leadership positions in their markets and in the industry. He is unique as a consultant, as comfortable in the board room as he is programming music. As with the other consultants at Vallie•Richards•Donovan Consulting, he is a veteran, he is a winner. You'll like him.
